Buying the right workout clothes is such an important part of your fitness journey. Wearing something that makes you feel fierce and sexy can give you that extra edge to push it a little harder in your workout. But at the same time, you can’t risk sacrificing quality. No one wants to realize their leggings are see-through while in downward dog.
My fitness journey has been an extensive one. I spent more than 20 years as a competitive figure skater, training with the top athletes in the world. Since then I’ve been trained to teach yoga sculpt, and most recently became a spin instructor.
Having been through so many different types of training, I’ve also been through so many types of workout clothing. From the warmest tops to the cutest and most functional sports bras, I’ve tried it all.
Below I’m sharing where to buy cute (high quality) workout wear. Check it out and let me know what workout brands are your favorites in the comments.

Best leggings – This award goes to Lululemon, hands down. My mom bought me my first pair of Wunder Unders when I was in high school and leggings were just becoming trendy in the figure skating world. The crazy thing is that I STILL have that pair and wear it regularly. It’s only just now starting to fray around the waistband. So if you’re looking for a high quality pair, this is it. The price tag is steeper than other brands, but they’re worth it considering how long you’ll own them.
Runner-up leggings – Athleta leggings take the second spot. Another high quality brand that’ll be worth the price. They’re nice and thick so you don’t have to worry about them ending up see-through. Athleta leggings also last through many washes.
Best shoes – I have to say Nike here, but not just because my boyfriend works with them. I’ve worn them just about my entire life. My favorite thing is that Nike makes it possible to own a cute pair that’s actually functional. You don’t have to wear ugly shoes to prove you’re a real athlete.
Best affordable sports bras – I actually really love Gap sports bras. They’re insanely cheap and hold up quite well. Of course, I do want to note that the ones I get don’t have a lot of padding or support for bigger chests. Since I really like to pick up basic black and grey styles for under my crop tops, these ones are perfect.
Cutest crop tops – Since I started teaching spin regularly a few weeks ago, my Nike crop tops have been on repeat. I really like how they add a little more coverage than a sports bra. I’ll actually be ordering a few more of them this week, like this one and this one. It’s such a fun and easy way to look cute while working out.
Best trendy styles – Alo Yoga has some of the best pieces if you’re looking for style and then quality. They’ve always got the cutest sets with lots of fun cutouts.
Warmest layers – If you’re looking to go on a ski trip or are a runner, Under Armour has the best layers for the cold. When I was skating I always had a few long sleeve options in my closet for especially cold days in the rink. They’re also the best for layering under your ski jacket.
