It’s been a while since I’ve written anything wedding related. Jon and I got engaged last July, so we’re having a long engagement. In fact, our total engagement will be over two years. I’m actually very happy with the long engagement because we’ve got so much happening in our lives. We moved back to the United States in March of this year, which has been an adjustment. I can’t imagine having to be in full wedding planning mode during such a big life change. But now, things have settled down, and we have about a year and 100 days to go. It might seem like a long time, but it’s actually time to really start getting our wedding planning going.
My last update here was my post about the Italian bridesmaid proposals I put together. Since then, things have really started moving. Just this past week, we booked our wedding photographer! We will be using Gabriele Fani who comes highly recommended by our planner, Jill Romanelli of Tuscan Wedding. I met with Gabriele virtually and am confident that he will capture such beautiful moments of our day. I really believe that the photographer is such an important part of our day, so we took our time making a decision and are very happy with where we have netted out.
The other wedding planning update I have already shared on Instagram, but I recently said YES to the dress! I’ve been making appointments every month or so since April. According to the wedding timeline from the Knot app, I needed to purchase my dress by September of this year. I wanted to take my time looking for the perfect dress and really savor the dress shopping experience. I’m only planning to do it once! Over the past few months, I’ve tried on a wide variety of dresses. In the end, THE dress is one I had saved not long after Jon proposed. Trying it on with my mom at Little White Dress in Denver, I just knew nothing else would compare. A visit to Mark Ingram Atelier in NYC helped confirm my decision and the customizations I wanted to make. This monumental moment makes me really feel like a bride! I can’t stop looking at the photos and can’t wait to wear the dress next year in Tuscany.
Other things in this wedding update are ongoing. Now that we’ve selected a photographer, the videographer is next. I am also working on designing save-the-dates. Technically, save-the-dates for a destination wedding should go out about a year before. We are going to send ours a little earlier in order to give people a chance to book flights as soon as they’re available. We are also working on putting our wedding website together. All of the details won’t be ironed out for a bit, but we’re trying to get what we have up for our guests who are itching to book flights.
Many more details will be ironed out in the fall. Jon and I have a trip to Florence booked in October to meet with our planner. We will be doing catering tastings, visiting our venue, and taking engagement photos. I cannot wait! More wedding planning updates to come after that, so stay tuned.
Xx, Kelsey
