I’ve said this a million times over the last few weeks, but omg we are so close. Time is absolutely flying, and I can hardly believe I’m about to be in the final month of wedding planning. In fact, we fly to Italy a month from Saturday! Planning a wedding for over two years, it’s always felt so far on the horizon. But we are officially down to the last few weeks. It’s been hard to find the time to share a lot of what’s been going on, but I had some time this morning and figured I’d do a little wedding planning update post.
So here we go!
Florals
This has been the biggest outstanding item on the list that needed alignment before the final month. Italians absolutely work at a different pace than Americans! I received the quote a few weeks back and put together a mood board last weekend. I’ve had a very specific vision for the flowers, and it’s been hard to communicate. I ended up taking photos I liked and photoshopping other flowers on top to convey the balance of colors I was looking for. Expect to see wine, burnt orange, blush, neutrals like cream and taupe, and a hint of olive green.
Bridal Shower
My bridal shower was a few weekends ago, and it was the most incredible day! I absolutely need to do a post to share all the details and amazing vendors. My MOH, mom, and future mother-in-law totally knocked it out of the park. They went above and beyond to create the most insanely beautiful day. And even more than that, it was amazing to see so many friends and family come together to celebrate. It made me so excited to have everyone together on the big day!!
Logistics
The last two months of wedding planning are full of so many logistics. I’ve been working very closely with my planner, Jill, to figure out the timing of the weekend. We are lucky that our venue is only 15 or so minutes from Florence where the welcome drinks will be held. It’s also where the majority of our guests are staying. We did end up opting to have the bridal party stay with us in villas at the venue for three nights around the wedding. It was part of the contract to have a Saturday wedding, but in hindsight, I think we would have had everyone stay in Florence instead. The logistics have been kind of crazy, but we’ll have everything nicely ironed out in this final month!
Questionnaires & Shot List
No one tells you how many questionnaires and small decisions you’ll have to complete in the last two months of wedding planning. We’ve spent a good amount of time filling out questionnaires to give all the information to our vendors that they need to make the wedding a success. It makes total sense and will be very helpful, but it also takes a lot of time and energy. I’ve also been working on our shot list for the photographer. We are working with Gabriele Fani, who has a documentary style that we love. I still want to capture certain photos, though, so I’ve been compiling a list and information for him.
The Dress!
The most exciting part of these last few weeks is that I’ve gotten to try on my wedding dress twice! I was honestly really nervous for the first appointment because I hadn’t seen the dress in over a year. It actually ended up fitting really well. On Monday I had my second fitting, which is the first time it’s been properly altered to fit me. It felt AMAZING to put it on and have it fit right. It looks so so good, and I’m so excited to get to spend the whole day in it next month. I have one more fitting two weeks before we leave for the wedding, and then they package her up for my flight!
Shopping
At this point, I’ve purchased all my white outfits for the wedding and have had to cut myself off from buying any more. So the shopping I’ve been doing has been for accessories and things we need for the big day. I just bought this coverup to wear in Sicily after the wedding. I also bought this slip for getting ready. It is so cute and so flattering! I also had to buy a new NuFace because mine finally died after several years of use (I definitely got it wet when you’re not supposed to, so that’s on me). I’ve also been buying little things for our welcome bags and things we’ll need for the wedding weekend.
It’s so crazy that we’re a mere 5 weeks from the big day! I will try to squeeze in another wedding post or two before we leave, but things are particularly crazy! If you want more real-time updates, stay tuned on Instagram (and I’ll probably be back on TikTok here soon).
Xx, Kelsey
