Swimsuit shopping is the worst isn’t it? It’s always so hard to find something that fits and sometimes dressing rooms make you feel so much worse. So what happens when you want to order a swimsuit online? Is it worth the risk that it isn’t going to fit?
Living in Amsterdam, our summers are so short and not very warm. So the last thing I want to do is spend a ton of money on a swimsuit that I’m going to wear a handful of times. That’s when I turn to shopping Shein swim.
I recently purchased a few items from Shein swim and wanted to share my tips for shopping Shein swim. Read on for everything you should know and expect when shopping the retailer.

TIPS FOR SHOPPING SHEIN SWIM
Know what to expect – You’re shopping from an inexpensive retailer who ships from Asia, so don’t expect all sizing to be the same or for the highest quality. If you pay $10 for a swimsuit, it might stretch funny or fit weird. That’s the risk you take.
Read reviews – The number one tip for shopping Shein swim is to read, read, READ the reviews. Shein tends to have pretty good reviewers who will let you know if a suit runs large or small. I always look for reviewers who have a similar body type or size to mine. If they say it runs even a little small, I always size up.
Don’t get too adventurous – I’ve noticed as a rule that certain styles always work on my body. Your highest chance of success with this kind of retailer is to order what you know tends to look good. Usually, when shopping Shein swim, a suit that looks a little risky ends up looking terrible on me. Keep in mind if you do order something risky and it doesn’t look good, it’s usually not worth returning. So you lose those $10.
But still have fun – There are hundreds of swimsuits on Shein, so there’s definitely something for everyone. Just make sure you give yourself time to research and comb through it all until you find a few cute options. Some of my favorites in the carousel.
General sizing tips – Lastly, a few sizing tips I’ve noticed overall when shopping Shein swim:
- Swimsuits tend to run small. Read the reviews in case that’s not the case. I usually size up at least one size
- Torsos on one-pieces aren’t very long. I have a long torso, and more often than not the size M is far to short for me to comfortably wear
- Tops tend to run a bit bigger & bottoms tend to run smaller. The unfortunate thing about ordering on Shein is that you can’t always order different top and bottom sizes. Order for whichever is bigger and potentially get it tailored if needed.
- Fabric varies from suit to suit. I haven’t tried wearing a white suit in water yet (let me know if you have!). But reading the reviews will help let you know if fabric is thicker or thinner.
