File this under trends that are slightly ridiculous but I actually love. The double sweater trend might not be very practical, but it’s one I’m totally going to be wearing until the weather warms up. If you’re wondering what the heck a double sweater is, look no further. It’s a trend that’s been showing up on influencers all across Instagram for the past few months and isn’t going to slow down until the weather warms.
The double sweater trend is actually fairly simple. All you have to do is throw on a sweater. Then throw a second sweater over your shoulders to act as a scarf. You can tie it. You can loop it. You can wrap it. Just do whatever you’d normally do with a scarf. It’s a pretty simple trick that will make your outfit instantly more trendy without too much fuss.
The key to making the double sweater trend work is to ensure that your sweaters are tonal. Either match them up exactly (two grey sweaters for example) or make sure they’re in the same neutral family. Sticking to neutrals will really help keep the look elevated.
The second key is to make sure the rest of your outfit is current and on-trend. I paired my sweaters with split hem pants, one of my favorite spring trends. But you can just as easily pair yours with denim or another pair of trousers. Just pick a silhouette like straight leg that’s currently trending. If you wear styles that aren’t currently trending, you run the risk of looking out of touch.
The double sweater trend is a really easy way to make any outfit chic. And it’s the perfect trend to try before spring weather rolls around and all your sweaters go back in storage.
