I honestly find myself going back through old blog posts, Instagrams, and photos fairly often. I love reminiscing on all the good times and observing how much has changed. In the spirit of the last day of the year, I’ve gone back through everything to bring you the Best of 2018 here on kelseyybarnes. And of course, it wouldn’t be authentic if I didn’t share some of the worst, as well.
Keep reading for all the best (and worst) of 2018. Happy New Year!
Xx, Kelsey
BEST BLOG POST
The most viewed blog post on kelseyybarnes this year was the post about the Amsterdam fashion influencers you should be following. My intention when writing this post was to share Amsterdam fashion bloggers, but I was shocked to find that so many had given up posting to their website in favor of posting on Instagram. Nonetheless, there is so much good style inspiration to be found. Click here to read.
BEST INSTAGRAM POST
This one came as no surprise to me. When Meredith and I captured this leaping photo in front of Denver’s Union Station, I knew it was going to be epic. The way my dress matched the sign, the movement, and the gorgeous lighting that Meredith captured made this my most liked and engaged with post. Click here to see the photo. And if you’re looking for things to do in Denver, check out this blog post here.
BEST FACEBOOK POST
The posts that perform best on Facebook tend to be the more personal posts I share. Which makes total sense, since most of my Facebook followers are friends and family. This post on body acceptance as a retired athlete blew up and was shared many times over. Click here to check it out.
BEST OUTFIT OF 2018
This outfit got a crazy number of pins and repins on Pinterest, which actually surprised me. There are many outfits I loved more this year, but something about this one resonated with people. I actually ended up throwing this outfit together fairly quickly for a shoot, but it turned out really well. Click here for the post.
WORST INSTAGRAM POST
I spent a lot of this year figuring out my posting style and what resonated with you all. Turns out this post of my favorite western boots was not your favorite. Maybe it was the western boot trend, the simplicity of the shot, or the fact there’s no person in it. But one thing I’ve learned this year is not to get caught up on posts that don’t perform well. Click here to see the shot.
BEST TRIP OF 2018
Jon and I did a lot of traveling this year. In fact, we visited 8 countries in total. While each trip holds a special place in my heart, Croatia was the one that blew my mind. I had no expectations for our long weekend there, and it turned out to be totally epic. Click here to read about it.
MOST HELPFUL POST
Based on comments and DM’s that I’ve gotten, this post about dressing for a creative job interview has been my most helpful. I wrote this post while I was interviewing for jobs myself. I remembered one of my college professors talking about how to dress for a creative job interview (hint: don’t EVER show up in a suit) and felt it would be great to share. Click here to read.
MY FAVORITE OUTFIT
Of course, my favorite outfit might not be your favorite outfit. This plaid on plaid look was one I had been dying to try out for several months. It wasn’t until I scheduled a shoot in New York that I was finally able to capture it. Click here to see more of it.
MOST EPIC MOMENT
While this year was full of too many epic moments to count, my most epic moment is one that didn’t make it to the gram or the blog. It was actually one year ago, today. Jon and I rang in the new year with his brother’s family in Vienna. The two of us went off to watch the fireworks. We found a spot standing up on a fence with 360 degrees worth of fireworks happening all around us. It was such an epic moment that I didn’t pull out my phone. Instead, I stood there crying tears of joy. This photo was taken the following day in Prague.
