this is my favorite trick to dress up a basic outfit for the holidays! for my work holiday party I wore an oversized button up and jeans. to make it festive and fun, I added sparkly socks and a fun pair of heels. mine were green velvet which felt like the perfect holiday color.

Did you know that Strasbourg, France is known as the Capital of Christmas? This was my most anticipated stop on our @vikingcruises Christmas market cruise, and for good reason! Every corner of the town is decked out in holiday decor and there are multiple Christmas markets to visit.

It’s a very popular destination and gets crowded so I recommend going early when the markets open around 11am. Pick up some roasted chestnuts and vin chaud to enjoy while you walk around town. And don’t forget to pick up a Christmas ornament from Hanssen & Gretel!

Have you been to the Cologne Christmas markets? I’ve been to many markets, and this was one of the best I’ve visited!

The vendors are all super authentic and sell things like German christmas cookies, hanging lanterns, and Christmas ornaments. I picked up the cutest ceramic Christmas house!

There are also so many great food vendors. You can get everything from German sausage to smoke salmon to raclette. And don’t forget the gluhwein!

Highly recommend a visit to the Cologne Christmas markets! Save room in your bag for all the goodies you’ll pick up.

best place to see the windmills in the Netherlands? less than an hour outside Rotterdam is the town of kinderdijk. this unesco world heritage site is home to 19 working windmills! only 3 are open to the public because the rest are people’s homes.

it’s a beautiful area for a walk or bike ride, and don’t forget to go inside one of the public windmills to see how millers and their families used to live!

feels so good to be back in my second home and spending time with my expat besties!! Jon and I spent nearly 5 years living in Amsterdam, and this was the first time we had come back together. there are many things I miss, but I do have to say I’m so grateful not to be dealing with Dutch weather anymore!!
