One of the brands that I miss most from the states is Banana Republic. They have so many fantastic classic pieces. I received this classic trench coat as a birthday present when I moved to New York several years ago, and it felt so perfectly relevant to run around the city wearing it. The beautiful thing is that this trench coat is still so relevant for my life in Amsterdam.
My favorite thingsabout this classic trench coat in particular (after its amazingly timeless style) is the fact that it’s water resistant. This is super necessary now that I live in one of the rainiest cities. It probably wouldn’t keep me particularly dry in a downpour, but it is great for getting caught in a light spring shower (which happens often). It’s the kind of item that never goes out of style even a little, and Banana Republic restocks it every year.
For this shoot, I paired it with a Breton striped sweater, my favorite skinny jeans and heeled boots. To add a little something extra to the look, I added a blue bandanna scarf and a round straw bag. Something I love about the classic trench is how easy it is to change it up. I styled it in a very classic (and a little French) way, and it could also easily be paired with any of the items I reviewed in my Shein haul.
I tied the belt of my trench in the back for a more open feel (and to show off my outfit), but when it starts raining you can be sure I’ll cinch it closed.
Do you own a classic trench coat? What are your thoughts on this iconic piece?
Xx, Kelsey
