If your vision is as bad as mine, prescription glasses are a total necessity in life. Beyond that, they’ve become much more popular as a style statement now that more interesting frames are available. But when going to the nearest optician can cost you upwards of $300 for a pair, you have to buy a basic pair that you can wear for the next several years.
I was in the same boat until my brother introduced me to the online retailer, Firmoo, that sells prescription glasses for next to nothing. This website is game changing because the low prices make it possible to buy multiple prescription pairs and still not get close to the price of one pair from Pearle Vision.
A few caveats before you jump in and buy a million pairs, just so you’re aware. The glasses from Firmoo aren’t as high quality as from an optician or Warby Parker. But if you’re looking for fun, trendy pairs, it’s worth it. I can see out of mine just fine (and I’m blind as a bat), and the clear frame is super cute. Jon even bought the same pair for himself!
If you buy glasses without any of the special extras, they can come out as low as $15. But after having my pair for over a year now, I’d recommend adding the additional $4.95 anti-reflective coating. That’s the only gripe I have with my pair. They never seem quite as clean because I opted out of the coating.
Additionally, if you do a BOGO offer like I did, be prepared that you do have to pay shipping for the return. The second pair that I got was comically large, but since I spent something like $25 total, it wasn’t worth it to pay to ship them back. If you do feel it’s worth it to ship them back, Firmoo offers you 30 days to return. I spoke to my brother who has something like 20 pairs, and he said that they’re almost always having a BOGO offer, so look for one when you’re shopping.
It can be a little intimidating to buy glasses that you’ve never tried on before, so just like shopping from the discount store, Shein, I recommend doing all the research you can. Look at frame measurements and determine your pupillary distance. This will make sure you don’t end up with a frame that’s way too big for your face.
Other than that, my experience with Firmoo was amazing, mostly because I never thought I’d be able to buy prescription glasses for that little or that I’d be able to change up my glasses style that easily.
Have you ever ordered your glasses from an online retailer? I know that Warby Parker is super popular. I’d love to hear your experience.
Xx, Kelsey
