A ski weekend in the Alps has been on my bucket list since I learned we were moving to Amsterdam a few years ago. I grew up skiing when my family lived in Colorado and Utah. I spent a few years in Colorado when I was training as a figure skater. When my figure skating career ended, I spent most weekends hitting the slopes.
It’s been a few years since I’ve skied, but I’m so excited to get back out there. Jon and I are headed to Chamonix in France for a long weekend. While I’m particularly excited for the slopes, I’m also excited for all the activities surrounding the skiing. Particularly sipping on gluhwein, eating fondue, and riding the cable car up to Aiguille du Midi.
Naturally, I’m also thinking of all the cute ski pictures. Check out the below for a bunch of the ski-chic items that I’m packing for our ski weekend in the Alps. Note: I’m not including my ski gear because it’s several years old, and I can’t find it anywhere on the internet.
Xx, Kelsey
- Après Ski sweater – I bought one similar to this one last year with the intention that we’d ski. Since we didn’t end up going, I will 100% be whipping mine out this year. This one is very similar and equally as cute. Pairs best with a mug of mulled wine.
- Leopard mittens – Another item I purchased last year with the intention of wearing on the slopes. They’re just ridiculous enough to work perfectly.
- Black turtleneck – The perfect base layer for all my après ski outfits. Also a great layering piece. Will look especially cute with my leopard gloves and a black beanie.
- Uniqlo down coat – Hands down the warmest coat I own. Not the sexiest, but when you’re headed to the mountains, you’ve got to be practical.
- White pom pom beanie – Nothing says “ski weekend” like a white pom pom beanie.
- Nike thermal – I always prefer to wear athletic wear under my ski gear versus an actual sweater. Personally, I think it’ll keep me warmer without the chance of getting my sweaters all sweaty. This top is tight enough for layering, but also warm.
- Nordic boots – These boots are necessarily made for the snow, but they are made to look darn cute in the middle of the French Alps. I’ve sprayed them with protectant spray, so hopefully they don’t get ruined in the snow.
- Hiking boots – Again, not real hiking boots, but these are what I’ll be traveling in. They’ve got the perfect ski weekend look, without being too warm or bulky for my flights.
- Red puffer – Am I packing far too many jackets for a four day weekend? Yes. Will a red puffer make the cutest photo with my nordic boots? Also yes. Do I care if I have to take an extra carry-on just for my jackets? Not at all.
- Fleece leggings – My mom bought me a pair several years ago, and they are hands down the best piece for layering under ski gear on a particularly cold day.
- Intense moisturizer – Nothing is worse than cracked dry skin from being on the mountain all day. I’ll be layering on this Bloomeffects nectar before hitting the slopes to create a barrier between my skin and the elements.
