I’m currently sitting at the airport in Toronto working on this post. It’s snowy and cold outside here. And I just left Amsterdam where it’s rainy and cold. Needless to say I’m counting down the hours until I’m in Florida catching a little sunshine.
I find that packing for Florida in January can be so difficult. It’ll be warmer than Amsterdam, but it’s also not going to be summer weather. Those in-between temps are always the hardest to plan for.
I’m headed to Orlando to meet up with my family and visit Disney World (beyond excited). And then headed to Deerfield Beach (near Ft. Lauderdale) for a wedding. Which means I’ve got to pack for multiple temperatures and situations.
I’ve focused my efforts on packing lots of layers and stocking up on accessories. They’re the two easiest ways to change up your look, and ensure you’re prepared for all situations.
Check out exactly what I’m packing for Florida in January below.
Xx, Kelsey
CLOTHING
- One raincoat
- One waterproof trench
- One pair of dark skinny jeans
- One pair of joggers
- Four tops
- One sweater
- A cute/easy dress
- Dressy dress (for the wedding)
- Two swimsuits
- One coverup
- Workout wear
- Pajamas
I tried to pack a lot of basics for this trip. The raincoat is for the predicted rain in Orlando, and the trench is an option for any chilly nights. I stuck to two easy pairs of pants and brought a variety of tops. I’ve got a few casual options, one dressier option, and a classic white button down. I also brought a sweater for cooler days and a casual dress for the warmer days in Deerfield. Even if it isn’t going to be super warm, I can’t forget swimsuits.
SHOES
- Casual sneakers
- Workout sneakers
- White mules
- Nude block heels
- Fun heels (for the wedding)
I normally wouldn’t really bring heels for a trip like this, but with the wedding there is more potential for a slightly dressier night. Plus my nude block heels are insanely comfortable. Casual sneakers are perfect for Disney, and mules are perfect for slipping on and running out the door.
ACCESSORIES
- Two headbands
- A scarf hair tie
- Barrettes
- Sunhat
- Woven scarf
- Lots of jewelry
One of the trends I’ve really been getting into lately is hair accessories. And there’s no better time to whip them all out than on a trip. Accessories take up very little space but have the power to completely transform your look. I also brought along my sun hat and plenty of jewelry.
