I always want to be completely honest with you all because I think it’s so easy for bloggers to hide behind a fake, overly curated version of themselves. So the truth is that I’ve been in a bit of a creative rut these past few weeks.
I’m not sure if it’s the grey days in Amsterdam, the disappointment in the holidays being over, or just trying to find my 2019 groove. But I’m having a hard time getting out of this rut and getting back to regularly creating great content.
Which is why I decided not to force today’s post. Instead, I want to share with you some of the best places to look for fashion inspiration. You may immediately think, “Instagram!”. Honestly, everything on Instagram has started to look so similar that I end up in more of a creative rut if I spend too much time there.
If you’re in your own creative rut or just feeling lackluster about your wardrobe, this list will help you find some new outfit ideas. Take a look at some of the fabulous outfits at these places. Copy them directly or take a few key styling notes.
How do you get out of a creative rut? Or where do you look for fashion inspiration?
Xx, Kelsey
WHERE TO LOOK FOR FASHION INSPIRATION
Who What Wear – This is probably my favorite site for fashion inspiration. Everything on this site is accessible, but still gives you the nudge to be more creative with your outfits. I love looking at upcoming trends for the year. Even when you’re not planning to buy, it helps to see if there’s anything in your closet that will work similarly.
Pinterest – This is probably my second favorite place to look for fashion inspiration. The hardest thing about Pinterest, is that it uses an algorithm just like Instagram and Facebook. So it’s really easy to suddenly end up with a feed of all the same outfits. It’s helpful to follow a few different types of accounts and try to pin outfits that look quite different.
Zara Online – I know this one may seem a little weird, especially if I’m not planning on buying anything new. But this is a trick I learned while I was on a shopping freeze this summer. Zara predicts some of the craziest trends that will be hitting all the other high street shops shortly after. Take a look at how they style items. Then see if you can find a fresh way to style what’s in your own closet.
Manrepeller – I mostly read this site for their clever articles, but they do have a wild fashion section. A lot of the looks are crazier than I’d probably wear regularly. But that can help you find just how far you want to push your own looks. Then decide what changes will make it approachable for your own wardrobe.
My Favorite Blogs – I was recently at a beauty talk where a major influencer (900K + followers) said “everyone knows that blogs are dead.” This is something I wholeheartedly disagree with, not just because there are plenty of people who read this blog, but because I personally still look to blogs for inspiration. Some of my favorites include Damsel in Dior and The Teacher Diva. Both Jacey and Ashley have super accessible outfits that are easy to make your own.
Instagram – I really didn’t want to put Instagram on this list. It’s so easy to get caught up in the exact same outfit as everyone else. You know when every single blogger starts wearing something (hello leopard skirts), it’s already too saturated. But that being said, there are a select few accounts that I’m loving for fashion inspiration right now. Namely, @sheamarie and @miloutjioe who are doing things a little differently in the best possible way.
