Wearing heavy coats all winter long means it’s really hard to show off your cute outfit. No one is going to see it if you’ve got a big black layer zipped all the way up to your chin. And while I love the idea of a million different coats to change up your look, it isn’t practical.
So how do you change up your look without buying a new coat? Enter accessories. Accessorizing is the one thing I’ve been focusing on stylistically in 2019. It’s such an easy way to change up your look for minimal effort (and minimal cost). I recently wrote this post on hair accessories and have been including them in many of my outfits.
To accessorize in winter, there are hats, scarves, sunglasses, mittens, and more. Throw on a few stand out pieces to completely transform a basic black coat.
For this look, I added the most fun faux fur scarf on top of my favorite J. Crew coat. I’ve had this coat for three years and swear by it. I paired it with the white boots that were my best purchase last year. But the best part of this look is the fact that I’m just wearing a basic pair of black jeans and a turtleneck as my base. Adding a few fun accessories makes it into a completely different look.
