I love a good statement lip. Especially since I usually forget to wear lipstick on a regular basis. When I’m particularly tired, I like to throw on my statement So Chaud lipstick with a million coats of my favorite Covergirl mascara. Ironically, I tend to get the most compliments on days like this. I think it’s because this red-orange shade really brightens my face (and distracts from my tired eyes!).
Some of the other colors I have on rotation are Russian Red (the most classic bright red shade), Sin (a nice deep purple-brown) for when I’m feeling vampy, and Double Shot (a creamy mocha) which enhances the natural color of my lips.
All of my favorite lipsticks are from MAC. I especially like the matte formulas because they provide wonderful, bright color without being too drying. But even more than the amazing colors and formulas, I love that I NEVER pay for them. MAC has an amazing recycling program, Back-to-MAC, where you can turn in 6 used MAC makeup containers (things like old eyebrow pencils, empty concealer containers, used eyeshadow) in exchange for a FREE lipstick. I love this program because I don’t usually like to spend a lot on lipstick when I don’t wear it every day. This way I’m getting free lipsticks and doing good with my old, empty containers. Plus, you don’t have to sign up for anything! Just put your six used containers in a bag and drop them off in exchange for your new free lipstick.
