This weekend is the official start of fall, y’all! Even though I’ve been acting like it’s fall for weeks, the season is actually here. Although I have to say that fall here in the Netherlands isn’t at all like fall in the states. There’s not a lot of decorating and pumpkins are hard to find. Plus Halloween isn’t really done here, which is my favorite holiday.
But that’s ok because there’s a crisp chill in the air, plenty of red wine, and I found an apple orachard we can go to. Even though I miss certain things from the states, I always feel so blessed to be able to experience Amsterdam and to make new traditions.
I spent the past weekend and the first part of this week out sick with a nasty cold. It’s that time of year again! Thankfully, on the mend now, but that does mean I’ve had to squeeze all of my work into the second half of the week. That means come 6PM, I will definitely be opening a bottle of red wine and curling up on the couch.
Next weekend, Jon and I head to the South of France for a few days. Even though I love fall, I am excited to get a last little bit of beach time. We didn’t get to do many summer trips this year because I was out of work (aka no budget for travel). I’m excited to be able to start taking little trips again soon. Starting with some rosé in Antibes!
How are you spending your first weekend of fall? Are you as excited as I am about the season?
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: WEEK 18 & 19
Outlander season 3 just came out on Netflix. I had stopped watching part way through season 2 last year, but recently picked it up again. Something about Scotland and fall…
Speaking of fall, this Banana Republic skirt is so perfect for the season. And so far out of my budget. Luckily there are plenty of affordable options out there like this and this.
This recipe I found for homemade apple cider. They don’t have traditional apple cider here, so I’m going to have to try making our own.
No idea where I would wear this skirt, but plaid and sequins has me dying!
Also the leopard skirt I’ve been wearing a ton lately is FINALLY online! So many good ways to wear this one, and you know leopard is very on trend.
I made a decision a few weeks ago to start spending more time learning new things instead of watching TV. The first thing I want to learn about is wine. One of my good friends and I are going to read through this book and do bi-weekly tastings! Thanks to my friend, Symone, for the book recco!
I’m still on a tiny bit of a shopping freeze, since I’ve only been working for a little while now. I did buy this western belt because it’s an easy way to make some of last year’s clothes feel fresh this fall.
Really loving this adorable patterned dress and these wide-leg pants from H&M right now.
For all my blogger babes, I’ve been trying to make Pinterest work better for me. I just signed up for Tailwind and am excited at the prospect of scheduling all my pins in advance.
They just opened a location of this Asian restaurant near us in De Pijp. Jon and I haven’t tried it yet, so we’ll be checking it out this Saturday. Will report back (and add it to my Amsterdam food guide if it’s good).
Even though it isn’t very practical for Amsterdam, I’m totally loving capes right now. This one is especially cute.
To be honest, I haven’t been a huge fan of the bucket hat trend, but this plaid one is actually kind of cute.
