Happy Friday, lovelies! How was your first post-summer week? I know, it’s not actually fall for a few more weeks, but something about Labor Day and starting September really seems to nail that summer coffin closed. We actually had several weirdly warm days here in Amsterdam. Unfortunately the warmth in Amsterdam hasn’t been the pretty summer kind. It’s been the it-wants-to-rain-but-doesn’t-so-it’s-super-humid kind of warm. I’m ready to go back to our cold fall weather.
I’ve really been starting to get into a groove this September with my two freelancing contracts, balancing blogging, and searching for more work. It feels so good to be back into a routine. In fact, I’m starting to get back to the New Year’s goal I made ages ago to become a morning person. As part of my Kayla Itsines workouts, I have to walk for 35 – 45 minutes three times a week. I’ve been enjoying taking mine in the early mornings before everyone in the city has woken up. We’ll see how long that lasts if it starts to get really cold… Taking donations to my spin class fund, effective immediately.
Tonight I’m going to an Americans in the Netherlands event. I’m pretty skeptical about the type of people that are going to show up to this thing, but if you don’t get out of your comfort zone things get boring. Plus it could be good for networking. Or at least a laugh. Wish me luck!
What do you do to get out of your comfort zone? And how was your week?
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: WEEK 17
If I didn’t already have too many western boots, these bad boys are totally calling my name.
Jon and I saw this movie last weekend. While it was quite good, it also left us totally depressed about the state of things in America.
I purchased a leopard skirt from H&M a few weeks ago, and they’re doing that annoying thing where they never list it online. But there are so many cute options out there like this one, this one, and this one. I’ve gotten so many compliments on mine, that you need one in your closet ASAP.
This super inexpensive beret that comes in tons of colors. I’ve decided I want to expand what Jon calls my “useless hat collection.” Basically he thinks none of my hats serve a purpose besides fashion (he’s right). So I want to get more. They’re such great statement makers. And I’ve learned that Dutch girls wear hats a lot because they hide how messy your hair has gotten from the rain! So smart.
Speaking of hats, I’ve been pulling out last year’s baker boy hat again. So glad it’s back in style and season.
I’ve been re-reading a lot of my books, since I don’t want to spend very much money on books. This one about Hemingway’s wife is what I’m reading right now.
With the weather cooling down, I’ll be coming home from work and climbing into these pants and these slippers every day. Two of the most comfortable things I’ve ever owned.
These Chanel dupes that I shared on IG this week. They’re so classic! Although my mom says they remind her of my grandmother. Funny how these things come back around.
My aunt and I have been discussing a trip to Paris later this year (my favorite city). So I’ve been hardcore pinning Paris pictures to my travel Pinterest board. Anyone else having major wanderlust right now?
If you haven’t checked it out yet, I wrote about my experience in the first year abroad as an American in Amsterdam. If you’ve ever wanted to live abroad, you should read it.
