Hallelujah! It’s Friday again! I’m especially excited this Friday because exactly one year ago today, Jon and I were moving our eight suitcases down the six flights of stairs in our Brooklyn walk-up to take an uber to JFK. We got on a one-way flight and woke up in our new home, Amsterdam.
It’s crazy to me that we’ve been here a year already. Sometimes it feels like we’ve been here forever and sometimes it feels like it’s hardly been any time at all. So much has happened in the past year – I’ve had an amazing job for 5 months, been unemployed for six, visited so many countries, revisited the states. I will definitely be writing a post for next week on the last year.
I am very excited to spend tomorrow with Jon celebrating our Amsterdamiversary. We haven’t figured out exactly how we want to spend the day, but I do know that we have some special Dutch gin that Jon’s brother gifted us when we moved. It’s definitely going to get opened tomorrow.
Other than our upcoming one-year, this week hasn’t been too crazy. I’m getting into a much more regular work schedule – two days with Jon’s company and one working on a new brand with a friend. I’m very excited to get more into this freelancer life.
Even if you don’t have something big happening this weekend, I still think it’s so important to find something to celebrate. Even if it’s something little like a new movie or just taking time to relax.
What will you celebrate this weekend?
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: WEEK 16
These shoes that one of my favorite Amsterdam influencers just bought. Elaisaya shared them on her stories yesterday, and I feel like such a trendsetter since I’ve been sharing them with you guys for a few weeks now.
Just checked out this new podcast for bloggers and those interested in the fashion industry. The interview with Jacey Duprie is great because 1) she’s one of my favorite bloggers ever and 2) the topic is New York Fashion Week a.k.a my dream.
I was doing some online window shopping this week, and J. Crew’s new pre-fall collection is everything. Lusting after this bag and this sweater blazer (been wanting something similar for a while). They’re doing a 40% off sale this weekend, and the cocoon coat is included. RUN to get your hands on the best coat you’ll ever buy. I bought mine two years ago, and it’s my staple all winter long.
For those of you in Amsterdam, Vogue is hosting a flower market on Sunday. I am 100% going to be there.
I’ve been pinning fall outfit inspiration like crazy. Follow my fall Pinterest board for all the best outfit ideas.
This week has been fairly cold, which has me thinking about thicker coats. I think one of the first ones I’ll buy is this teddy coat.
In my never-ending quest to find a Mexican restaurant to replace my favorite, Los Feliz, that recently closed permanently, I tried a Mexican spot in Haarlem yesterday. Unfortunately the food was pretty mediocre and they considered a tablespoon of guacamole enough for chips. So the search continues.
If you do find yourself in need of an Amsterdam restaurant or bar guide (not including Mexican), check out my new post.
Really looking to add a western belt to my wardrobe for fall. Such a good, small way to incorporate the western trend.
OUTFIT DETAILS:
J. Crew tissue turtleneck (these haven’t been released for the season yet, so linking the striped version here) | Mango belt bag | Banana Republic skinny jeans | Western boots from the Loavies sample sale (similar pair here)
