Happy Friday to you all! This week has been a good one. Namely because I finally received my sticker for my freelance visa and can officially begin working. If you’ve been following along, it’s been a bit of a tough ride. I’m a very proactive person and thrive off of being busy and driven, so being unemployed hasn’t been my favorite.
Luckily I already have a few jobs in the works, and am able to very actively pursue more freelance positions in the advertising and marketing space. It’ll definitely be a learning experience, as I’ll have to do my own invoicing and taxes. But it’s one I’m really ready for.
In other news, it’s beginning to feel like fall here in Amsterdam (complete with grey skies and rain!). I’m excited for all the fall fashion, snuggling, and red wine in the future. Jon and I are going to an Ajax (pronounced eye-axe) game this weekend. It’s the Amsterdam football team. We’ve never been to a game, so I’m excited to see what it’s all about. Even if the forecast says 60 and raining…
What do you have planned for your weekend? And how’s the weather while we’re at it?
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: WEEK 14 & 15
One of the things you guys asked me most about on stories this week was about the book I’m reading, Influencer. It’s by Brittany Hennessy, and provides a different perspective than most materials written for influencers. This book comes from the perspective of someone who is going to cast influencers in a campaign. There are lots of little nuggets that make total sense, but you might not have thought of. Highly recommend!
I also asked you all in this post what you’d like to see more of for fall, and your answers were so helpful! I’ve realized that I’m not doing enough to bring you guys the European twist that you’re looking for from me. So be prepared to see more of this in the future!
Not going to lie, I’ve never been an Ariana Grande fan, but her new album, Sweetener, has me changing my tune!
I’m really really reallllyyyy obsessed with plaid for fall. While plaid might not feel that original, the way you wear it can be. I saw this blazer paired with this skirt on the mannequin at Zara and totally fell in love. It’s a weird mix, but somehow works. I’ll be saving up for that outfit soon.
Speaking of fall outfits, check out the 2018 fall trends you might already be missing out on. Even if the weather doesn’t yet feel like fall, you can still start getting in on these trends.
I finally put a new screen protector on my phone yesterday, and it was like having a brand new phone. I’m a total klutz with my phone, so these are so necessary. The screen protector cracks instead of your phone, and mine was in sad shape. But thankfully my phone is in perfect condition!
This podcast that I’ve been listening to for a while now is one of my all time favorites. If you’re a wine lover or interested in learning more about wine, this is for you. It’s a super easy and informative listen.
I stayed in Antwerp last week with one of my girlfriends to see Britney Spears, and we stayed at Hotel Indigo. We booked it for the balcony view of Centraal Station, but were blown away by the awesome interior. Think flamingo wallpaper inside the elevators. If I need to go to Antwerp again, I’ll be staying here.
Have you seen Crazy Rich Asians yet? I read the series a while back, and was not disappointed in the movie at all! I feel like that’s pretty rare to say of a book-turned-movie. Even Jon enjoyed it!
One of the things on my fall wishlist is this pair of boots from Mango. Can you tell I have a thing for white shoes right now?
OUTFIT DETAILS:
J. Crew dress (the perfect print for transitioning to fall) | H&M straw hat | Henri Bendel bracelet and petal bracelet

YAY congrats on getting your freelance visa!! I know the time off from work can be a struggle (been there when my husband and I first moved to LA for his job!) but now I’ve come to love the freelance lifestyle so much and I’m sure you will to! Also can’t wait to see Cray Rich Asians this week:)

Thank you, Katie! I was hesitant at first to go freelance, since I’ve only ever known full-time employment. But I’m so excited to see where this goes! Let me know what you think of Crazy Rich Asians!! Xx, Kelsey
