Happy Friday, friends! Have to say I’m feeling pretty good as we wrap up this week. The week started out feeling so long. Everything seemed to drag on forever. But once Thursday rolled around, things started to move more quickly. I had some stress going on at work that resolved and was able to go out to eat for lunch with a friend at Cafe George. It felt SO good to be able to sit in the sun and have avocado toast. Looks like there will be a lot of terrace lunches in my future. In fact, Jon and I have a reservation at one of our favorite terraces, Marie Amsterdam, tomorrow afternoon. The weather is showing a 100% chance of rain (typical Amsterdam), but that’s not going to stop us.
I also booked my first indoor gym session. If you’ve followed along during covid, you know I’ve been especially nervous about returning to indoor workouts. Knowing how much sweat and spit is flying around… But one of my favorite spin studios, Rocycle, is doing on demand classes indoors. Since I’m vaccinated, I feel a little more comfortable trying this out. Basically, the bikes are available for reservation, and you can listen to an audio ride on your own headphones. Since I used to teach spin, I’m also just excited to have access to a bike again.
This week, I chatted on stories about booking our first vacations of 2021. We are heading to Ibiza in July and Greece in August. We also have some conversations going with friends who may come visit once the EU opens to vaccinated travelers. I’m so excited to be planning travel again and have something to look forward to. It’s the best part of being an expat, and now we are going to get to experience it again.
Do you have any travel booked? Or anything that you’re looking forward to in the next few months? Let me know in the comments below!
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 4, WEEK 19 & 20
Prepping for travel has me reminiscing about our trip to Sicily last year. If you’re looking to visit Sicily, I’ve got a guide on hiking Mount Etna here and a guide to Taormina (my favorite!) here.
I’ve started shopping for Ibiza and had a Zara order arrive this week. I shared this dress (EU) on stories that I’m obsessed with. I will also be keeping this bag (EU). This dress (EU) was super cute but hung kind of funny in the top. You all LOVED it on stories, so I think I’m going to try it in a size S.
Mango also has an amazing collection inspired by Mallorca, the sister island to Ibiza. I’m in love with this maxi dress (EU) and this mini dress (EU).
You all shared some great book recommendations on Instagram this week. I’ve started reading this book (EU) which is a fascinating non-fiction book about Audrey Hepburn’s time in the Netherlands during WWII. It’s already so interesting learning about her family’s history here, since I know the areas.
Jon and I watched this documentary on HBO this week. It’s about the opioid crisis in America and so enlightening. It’s long, but absolutely worth the watch.
