Hey friends, how are you? Strangely enough, this week has been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for me. I thought the results of the election over the weekend would bring my peace and solitude, and it did for a while… But the world is much the same as it was before that stressful week of vote counting. Covid numbers are still skyrocketing and the Netherlands is still in second lockdown.
I found myself particularly down by Wednesday. The monotony of the second lockdown was starting to really weigh on me. But yesterday, I had a standing coffee date with my friend, Mercedes. We met at one of my favorite places, Pluk, for takeaway coffee and a short walk. Getting out of the house and chatting with a friend about how frustrated we were feeling really helped get me out of my funk. Don’t underestimate the power of friendship during this time!
I have no real plans for this weekend (surprise) other than putting up the Christmas tree. Thankfully they’re saying museums and the zoo will open again next week, so I’m going to be reserving time slots asap to give us something to do.
I hope things are going well for you, whether you’re also in lockdown or free to do things. Remember not to take any of it for granted!

Picked up this candle (EU) for the house this week. I’m so ready to get into the Christmas mood, and this is definitely helping. It smells exactly like Christmas, promise.
Read this book by the author of The Elephant Keeper’s Daughter recently and really enjoyed it. It’s an easy read and great if you love historical fiction with a dash of romance.
I shared this lipstick (EU) in So Chaud on Instagram the other day. It’s such a fun shade and really brightened up my day when I wore it around the house. Plus it makes your teeth look super white, which is a huge bonus.
I received a sample of this serum (EU) in my Cult Beauty goodie bag and am loving it so far. It’s an overnight treatment for dark spots and scars. TBD how it continues to work, but I’m happy with the results so far.
Recently picked out this jumpsuit (EU) as part of a collaboration with my favorite French brand. I don’t have any holiday plans, but I’m still going to be rocking it this year.
This show on HBO has become our new weekly watch. If you’re not subscribed to HBO, I highly recommend it. They’ve had some of the best shows this year. Expats, you can get it if you have a VPN!
