It honestly feels like I was just writing last week’s Friday Favorites post. I don’t know about you all, but the monotony of this pandemic is making time fly for me. There’s so much going on in the world right now, but part of me just wants to say “Wait! Slow down!” This year is going so quickly, and I can’t help but feel apprehensive about 2021 being right around the corner.
I’ve been watching the news a lot over the past few days. At dinner with a friend this week, we were saying that the world is a bit of a dumpster fire. And unfortunately, a lot of the world is on actual fire – California, Oregon, the migrant camps in Greece, and Beirut.
Sometimes it’s hard to reconcile the relatively quiet and calm life we’re living here in Amsterdam with all these things happening in the world. The Netherlands has been pretty sheltered. We haven’t even had any real mask mandates in the city. It’s a very weird feeling to be so removed from everything. At the same time, I’m acutely aware of the suffering happening in our world and how privileged I am at the moment.
Jon and I are thinking of going to Italy next weekend. Many countries are now on the orange list, meaning we’d be required to quarantine for 10 days upon return. I’ve also heard your insurance won’t cover you if you get covid after returning from an orange country. We had originally booked next week to go to Greece, but the islands turned to orange last week. And both Spain and France aren’t doing well.
I’m a little torn on going to Italy. I’m craving a chance to get out of the Netherlands, and I know we would be safe and smart. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t risks. And on top of it all is a slight feeling of guilt that we can take a vacation when so many can’t.
Anyway, as you can tell I’m feeling all sorts of things this week. But that’s just the name of this pandemic game. I hope you all have a great weekend ahead.
And enjoy some Friday Favorites below for something lighter!
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 35
I tried this restaurant in De Pijp the other day. It was so good and such a cozy spot. I’ve added it to my Amsterdam restaurant guide along with a bunch of other fun spots.
The blazer I wore in this post is available in the EU right now. It’s such a classic style. If you’re in the US, this version is available now. OR the exact version I’m wearing is coming soon here!
I wore this dress (EU) last weekend, and it was a total hit. It’s the perfect piece for transitioning to fall and under $40. Especially in love with the print and trendy puff sleeves.
This article is a very brilliant piece on the pandemic in the United States. Very well written and explains how things got to where they are.
This dress (EU) has been popping up all over my Instagram feed. It’s such a good one for transitioning to fall. Pair it with these boots (EU) and a leather jacket (EU).
For this transitional weather, these are my favorite kind of tights. I’ve picked this one up from Dutch girls, but the slightly transparent style is perfect when it’s just slightly chilly.
