Happy Friday once again my friends! I am sooooo exhausted this week. We’ve had an intense heatwave in Amsterdam. It’s been around 90 degress every day. This wouldn’t be so bad except AC isn’t really a thing in Europe. Our windows don’t allow for hookup, so we’ve just been melting in our apartment. Not many restaurants or cafes have AC either, so there’s nowhere to go! Thankfully the temps dropped a bit last night. Still waiting on rain to break the 80% humidity, but the relief I feel right now is intense.
We are headed down to Den Haag (The Hague) this weekend. Jon and I were supposed to be headed to Croatia, but unfortunately the Dutch government changed it to code orange. I’m really bummed that we can’t go, but I’d rather be safe and not have to do a two week quarantine. We are hoping we can go to Greece in September, but I’m not getting my hopes too high.
The covid numbers here in the Netherlands have been climbing lately. We have fewer hospitalizations and deaths, but the number of cases in people in their 20s-30s is climbing. I just wish everyone would be better about distancing and stop pretending covid isn’t a thing.
One of the things I’m working on right now is letting go of control. This year has been a real test in patience and ability to be flexible. I just wrote about a bunch of life updates in this post. Go read it if you haven’t! They’re all a sign that life has a way of working out the way it should, even if it doesn’t seem like it at the moment.
I hope you all have a good weekend and remember not to hold too tightly to things you can’t control. If you’re interested in our visit to The Hague, follow along on Instagram!
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 31
Yesterday I shared five summer beauty buys I’m loving right now. It includes EU links for those of you in Europe.
Jon and I watched this movie on HBO earlier this week. I didn’t have high hopes, but it was actually pretty good! We’ve also just started this show on Netflix. Have you seen it?
I wore this skirt (EU) on one of the hottest days of the Amsterdam heatwave and got so many compliments! It runs a bit big, so size down. I’m in a small.
Things aren’t cooling down juuuuust yet, but I know fall is around the corner. I’m excited to style this classic trench coat again. I’ve had mine for several years and wear it every fall and spring.
I’ve been on the hunt for an oversized white button down. I’m thinking this one (EU) looks perfect!
Also craving a pair of chunky chelsea boots (EU) for fall. I was originally resistent to this trend, but have slowly fallen in love with it. I’ll pair them with this dress for the summer-to-fall transition.
This movie soundtrack is my guilty pleasure. I’ve been listening to it this week while I get into spreadsheets for work.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public on August 19th (Wednesday!). If you missed last week’s post, I’m dropping my fave picks in the carousel below. You can shop it if you’ve got a Nordstrom card already!
