Whew! We made it! Anyone else feel like this week was simultaneously so long and also went by so quickly? I’m sure a large part of those feelings for me are because things in the NL have officially opened up. I’ve been making a million dinner reservations and having coffee dates with a select few friends. It’s felt so nice.
I’ve needed these plans to add some structure to my days. Being out of work is such a weird thing. On one hand, I have so much freedom. I’m putting a ton of time into my blog and doing extra around the house. But at the same time, it’s easy to feel kind of lost. I don’t really know what I want to do next. The number of possibilities can sometimes feel paralyzing.
Jon and I are going to be making some big decisions in the near future. His visa is up in November, and we are going to have to decide if we want to stay or go back to the US. I’m often torn. Living in the Netherlands has been such an amazing experience that I’m so grateful for. At the same time, I miss a lot of things about the US. My expat friends will understand. They’re usually silly little things. So many things abroad are SO different. Life in general is a little harder between the language barrier and the different systems. I miss not having to think twice about things like doctor appointments or saving for retirement. And don’t even get me started on doing taxes abroad…
Stay tuned in to the blog because I’ll be sharing our decisions in the next few months. Until then, I’ll also be continuing to share our travels now that things are opening up. Plus alllll the summer fashion, of course!
Keep reading for the best finds of this week, including some petitions to sign for the BLM movement.
Have a great weekend!

FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 23
It’s Juneteenth today. If you’re not 100% sure what it’s about, check out this infographic. Hint: It’s not the day slaves were freed in the US by the Emancipation Proclamation.
My summer playlist is finally live! Thanks for all your suggestions on Instagram stories. I’ll continue to add to it as summer continues, and I find new jams.
I went shopping in actual stores yesterday (!!), and picked up this swimsuit and this swimsuit for Antibes. (EU links here and here) Both are super flattering!
Also made myself a promise I’d wear more than just white this summer (creature of habit). So I picked up this dress (EU link). I’m so excited because the color is so happy and bright, plus it’s the perfect fit to just throw on and go. PS – if you have any issues with the links let me know. Mango has been giving me issues lately!
Picked up this JW Anderson skirt in my haul as well, but need to exchange it for a smaller size. I always forget that Uniqlo runs larger than a lot of the high street stores.
Jon and I watched this movie last night. It was one of those movies with a really awesome twist at the end. If you’re looking to continue educating yourself on BLM, we also watched Selma. It’s a bit stressful to watch, but so important to understand the Civil Rights Movement.
And here are a few of those petitions. Please please PLEASE take 30 sec to sign each.
- Make Juneteenth a national holiday in the US
- Arrest the officers who killed Breonna Taylor (no it hasn’t happened yet)
- George’s Law – make racially motivated crimes an act of terror
- Mandate police force academies take a racial bias test
- Make lynching a federal hate crime
