Hey friends! We are wrapping up week eight of quarantine, which kind of blows my mind. Looking back at where I thought I’d be right now. We would likely have been on a plane to visit my brother in Budapest this weekend before he finished his semester abroad. I’d probably be exhausted from all the work during tulip season.
Instead I’m sitting on the couch writing this post at 11am. I’m drinking my second coffee and have yet to workout. Life is definitely so much slower right now. I feel much less of a rush to get things done asap. I’ve got all day with nothing to do and nowhere to be.
If you didn’t notice, I was a little bit quiet last week with my posting. There have been some big changes over here that I’ve had to take some time to process. I’m not yet ready to share exactly what that is, but I will soon. Just know if you’re going through a hard time right now, we’re in this together. I also feel lost, confused, and totally unsure of what the future holds.
The Dutch prime minister made an announcement this week about reopening the Netherlands. This coming week, hairdressers and beauticians will be allowed to open (thank god because I don’t even know what color my hair is right now). As of June 1, restaurants, bars, and terraces will open but only for 30 people at a time. I’m so excited to be able to go out to eat again! At the same time, I’m so anxious what that will look like.
It’s a strange time, but there is hope in the air. Yesterday, a florist started selling flowers on Albert Cuypmarkt for the first time in weeks. It was such a small thing, but brought me so much joy.
Keep on keeping on. And don’t forget to hope.
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 16 & 17
Trying not to shop toooo much during this time, but I did stock up on a few beauty items. This styling creme, this caffeine eye serum, and this CC cream I swear by made it into my cart.
Shared all my favorite at home quarantine workouts in this post. I also got a few additional suggestions on Instagram for this studio and this app.
I’m really into trends that I can wear at home now and out and about later. This muscle t-shirt is going to be so popular this summer. I bought this one, and it’s very comfy for wearing around the house.
Jon and I made margs this week for Cinco de Mayo. I got this recipe for a classic marg from a friend and tweaked it just a touch.
I received a sample of this eye cream last time I shopped at Sephora in the US. Been using it in quarantine, and I love it. It’s pricey, but I used it after a good cry sesh and it fixed everything.
Just found what might be the perfect nude summer sandal. Easy to slip on for the beach but much classier than flip flops.
J. Crew is the first business to file for bankruptcy amidst the pandemic. It breaks my heart to see the retailer go this way, since I worked there through college. A lot is on sale right now. I’d shop this dress and this $27 sweatshirt (really wish I could order it to the NL) from Madewell.
