Helllllo again! We have made it through yet another week of quarantine. Over here in Amsterdam we just finished week 6. On Tuesday the Dutch prime minister made an announcement that they’re extending lockdown at least another month. They’re going to try and send children back to school in May, but large events and gatherings have been cancelled until September 1.
I’ve been reading and listening to a lot of podcasts lately that say these restrictions will likely go on for a year or more. It sounds like it’ll be a bit of an in-and-out process, where they ease restrictions for a period and then when there’s a spike we all go back inside. It makes me very sad for all the travel we were hoping to do this year. But I can’t dwell on that thought or else I’ll end up depressed.
Anyone else feeling this strange draw to live a more suburban life? This whole covid-19 thing has me wishing for a yard and pets. Jon and I have been living in big cities for the past several years, which has been amazing. But there’s a small part of me right now that would love to have more space and get away from it all. I have a feeling I’m not the only one feeling this way. I think there’s going to be a bit of an exodus to the suburbs after this is all over.
We have King’s Day on Monday here in the Netherlands. It’s probably the biggest holiday of the year here. Normally there are boats in the canals, concerts, a free market, and thousands of people partying in the streets. This year, we’ll all be staying inside. Jon and I are going to make brunch and drink mimosas. I’m hoping that lots of people will be hanging out on their patios, so it still feels like a celebration.
How have you been celebrating while in isolation? Any tips to make it extra fun?
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 15
These quilted slides have been a hit on my Instagram. They’re one of my favorite purchases in quarantine. So comfy I’m going to wear them as house slippers until we can go out to brunch again.
This song has been on REPEAT lately. It’s just the right amount of feel good that I need right now.
For my readers in the NL, I just ordered tulips for delivery from here. You can order 200 from here, but I found that I’d rather buy 40 really nice tulips. I don’t have vases for 200! Either one is a great way to support your local florists during this time (and brighten your home).
This dress style is the hottest trend for spring and summer this year. Highly recommend now for hanging out at home and later for brunch.
Listened to this podcast episode on who is organizing the lockdown protests in the US. I also listened to this one about the next year or two of the pandemic (warning: it’s a bit bleak if you’re sensitive right now).
I’m really digging neutral loungewear sets during this time. The great thing about sets is that you can mix and match. The pants can be paired with a tee and the sweatshirt with jeans. I like this set and this set.
This polish in “Spring in Your Step” is the perfect happy purple. I’ve done both my toes and fingers in it right now.
My skin has been all over the place lately (probably because I haven’t been eating as well as normal). Think I’ll give this mask a go this weekend.
