Things are freaking weird right now. The world is in such a strange place, and I’m only just figuring out how to cope. This week was full of some really special highs and some really difficult lows. At the moment, I’m just trying to focus on keeping a positive mindset. There’s a lot outside my control, and I can’t let that ruin things for me.
My 28th birthday was on Wednesday. I had originally planned to spend it going out to dinner, doing drinks with friends, and enjoying a weekend in Brugge. Instead, I celebrated a very special day with Jon in our apartment. I have to say I am so eternally grateful to have Jon in my life. He went out of the way to make the day special for me, even if there was a lot we couldn’t do. He decorated with balloons and baked me a cake.
Something else that happened this week was that a bunch of my work was cut back for the next two months. Working as a freelancer during this time, is really difficult. My heart goes out to all the freelancers who have lost work because of this economic downturn. My only hope is that it turns around sooner rather than later. (Also if anyone is looking for marketing or social media support hit me up!).
The sun has been out in the Netherlands ever since we were told to stay home. Part of me wants to be mad about it because it was so rainy every day until then. But I have to count it as a blessing to see the sun during these hard times. The sun is supposed to be around for the foreseeable future, so I’ll just be sitting in my window soaking it up.
In an effort to stay positive after a rough week, leave one positive/happy thing in the comments that happened this week. Let’s lift each other up.
Xx, Kelsey
FRIDAY FAVORITES: ROUND 3, WEEK 10 & 11
I wrote a letter to my 18-year-old self in this post. During this uncertain time, it’s uplifting to look back at my life ten years ago and how much I’ve already weathered.
While we’re all staying inside, these are THE softest sweatpants ever. Highly recommend for days lounging around the apartment.
I wore this dress to ring in my birthday. It’s too cold to wear it outside, but since we’re all stuck inside it was the perfect thing to wear. The style is very on trend, and I can’t wait to wear it out and about once we get through this.
Naturally, we all need some things to fill our time right now. Brit + Co is offering free classes with the code SELFCARE until March 31st.
It’s allllll about cozy and comfy while we’re all stuck at home. My favorite pieces are the softspun items from Gap. I recommend this, this, and this.
If you’re looking for something to watch, my favorites at the moment are: Westworld Season 3 (new episode each Sunday), Tiger King (gets more crazy every episode), and Succession (I’m just about to start season 2).
Just bought these sandals to break in around the house before we’re allowed out again. Ordered my usual size, but they’re a tiny bit small. Recommend sizing up one size.
Musée D’Orsay has free virtual tours you can take right now, if you’re like me and dying to go to Paris.
Since we’re likely to miss most of spring, I’m dreaming of pretty summer items like this, this and this. PS – they’re all part of a sustainable collection.
