The best time to have fun with trends (IMO) is fall. For me, it stems from back-to-school growing up. This was always the time when I’d go shopping with my mom to pick out new outfits for the school year. It always felt like an opportunity to “reinvent” myself. I still carry that feeling when the weather changes. Plus NYFW always kicks off a general excitement about all the fun fall trends.
I am such a firm believer in only investing in trends that fit your personal style or will span multiple seasons. Between all the fast fashion waste and being budget conscious, I’ll never tell you to dive into a trend unless it feels right for you. I personally love having fun with trends, even though the majority of my wardrobe is focused on classics. Below you’ll find the fall trends I think are worth your time this year.
Tell me, which fall trends will you be wearing this season?
Xx, Kelsey
FALL TRENDS 2024
Pops of burgundy
Oh how I LOVE this trend. Burgundy is one of my favorite colors. In fact, it was the main color in my wedding color palette. This fall trend is so easy to incorporate. I particularly love a burgundy bag or pair of shoes to add a pop of trendy color to your outfit.
Lace skirts
The naked dress has been trending for a few seasons now. I think this trend is so fun, and it isn’t going anywhere for fall. In fact, lace skirts are going to be everywhere. Wear them with an oversized sweater or denim shirt to balance out the sheerness of the skirt. All the fashion girlies will be wearing them, trust me.
Leopard
Guys, I’m so excited to see more leopard this fall. The print started picking up steam this summer, and it’s not going anywhere. Ever since my days working at J. Crew in college, I’ve always considered leopard to be a neutral. It goes with everything and makes an outfit much more interesting.
Chunky jewlery
You may have noticed oversized metal cuffs on your favorite influencers lately. We’re definitely seeing a move towards chunkier jewelry this fall. Metal cuffs in silver and gold will be huge. We’re also seeing pendant necklaces take off. This fall trend is super easy because it’s low risk but will add an extra level of polish to your looks.
Cigarette trousers
If the wide leg trend isn’t for you, I have good news. Slimmer silhouettes are on their way back in. In particular, we’re going to see more cigarette trousers. They’re narrow and slightly cropped, but not as short as capris (which I’m also investing in). To be honest, I never really stopped wearing these trousers, but I’m glad to see they’re trending again. Proof that everything really is cyclical in fashion!
Boho styles
If didn’t see the Chloe runway that’s kicked off the boho revival, go google it now. I have always loved Chloe, and I’m excited that more boho styles are trending again. Luckily some key retailers like H&M and Mango have invested in this trend, so there are lots of ruffled, loose pieces out there.
Suede
Honestly, I feel like suede usually comes back around this time of year. There’s something about the fabric that just screams fall. This year, there’s going to be an extra emphasis on the fabric. The great news is there are so many ways to incorporate suede into your wardrobe – boots, jackets, and purses to name a few.
