It may be due to living in Europe, but I am obsessed with statement pants right now. In Amsterdam, interesting pants are a staple in the Dutch girl’s wardrobe. You’ll see plaid, leopard, sparkles, and velvet on any given day. I love analyzing street style and picking up on European trends. So naturally, I’m jumping on the statement pants train this winter.
I found this fun sparkly pair at Zara for less than $40 and new I had to wear them in New York. They’re such a fun way to spice up an otherwise basic outfit. If I had worn this outfit with my standard dark skinny jeans, it wouldn’t have been nearly as chic. I wore this outfit that same night out with friends and got so many compliments on my pants.
The statement pants trend is an easy way to make your outfit more interesting. A basic sweater becomes far cooler when paired with a velvet pair of flares. Or if you’re feeling especially bold, try print mixing. I went pretty simple with mine. A simple black turtleneck and my favorite western boots let the pants do all the talking.
