During a time like this, I have to admit I’m very glad that I don’t get my nails done in a salon. I’m sure you’ve seen the memes going around of the grown out nail beds once we get out of isolation. For me, painting my nails is my “me moment” during the week. It’s a form of self-care. It also keeps me from biting my nails, a bad habit I only broke a few years ago.
Since we’re all staying home right now, it’s a great time to try out some different nails. No one is going to see them until you’ve perfected the trend. But there’s also no reason to stick with basic light pink when you’re inside. Why not brighten things up a little?
Enter my favorite easy DIY spring nail trend – multicolored nails. If you’re a Pinterest fan like me, you’ve likely already come across this trend. In fact, I’ve pinned this spring nail trend more than once on my beauty inspiration board.
The best thing about this DIY spring nail trend is that it’s so easy. While I love crazy nail art, there’s no way I can do it at home. But this trend simply requires a few jars of nail polish and basic nail painting skills.
I went with springy pastels for my nails because those are the colors I had laying around the house. But you can use any combination that pleases you. I’ve listed some of my favorite combinations below. Just stick within the same family. I recommend sticking to four colors. Paint two nails in the same color and then switch out the rest.
PASTELS
REDS & ORANGES
BLUES
SHADES OF NUDE
Don’t worry about patterns or symmetry with the easy DIY spring nail trend. The more random the placement of colors, the better. Isn’t there something so joyful about a hand full of bright colors? It reminds me of painting my nails as a kid. And that kind of happy nostalgia suits me so well right now.
