I hate to admit it, but the skinny jean is pretty much dead. They’re still one of my favorite pairs of jeans, and won’t be leaving my wardrobe just yet. But the truth is, if you want to look chic and stylish, it’s time to switch out your skinnies for a few new denim styles.
Living in Europe, I get a front-row seat to all the latest trends. Read about how my style has been influenced by life in Europe in this post. They’re ahead of the trends, makes sense that I’ve hardly seen any European girls wearing skinny jeans in the past few months. In fact, I challenged myself not to wear skinny jeans for the month of March. I’ve been wearing a lot more trousers, but I’m ready to get into some fresh new denim styles.
Read below for the three denim styles to wear this spring. I think it’s time I do some shopping!

THE ANTI-SKINNY JEAN
Mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, whatever you want to call them. Baggy jeans are on trend and being dubbed the anti-skinny jean. They’re opposite of your favorite slim pair in every way. These loose pairs are best worn with white sneakers or a heeled ankle boot.
SKINNY FLARES
The latest trend that’s been seen on the likes of Gigi Hadid and Victoria Beckham is the skinny flare. This denim style has all the traits of your favorite skinny jean until you get the the calf and ankle. The subtle flare pairs so nicely with any type of heel. Just avoid wearing this style with flat shoes, or you’ll look frumpy.
DISTRESSED HEM
This denim style isn’t new this season, but it is back. The distressed hem is best worn in a cropped style to show it off. This style looks good with heeled boots, flats, and sneakers. I’m especially looking forward to pairing mine with white mules once the weather warms up.
