Halloween is by far my favorite holiday. But that also means that I tend to put a lot of pressure on finding the right Halloween costume. When I was in college, I always wanted to find something sexy. Now that I’m a bit older, I look for chic Halloween costumes.
The thing with looking for chic Halloween costumes is that you always get hit with the very expected Breakfast at Tiffany’s costume. While it is timeless and classic, it’s been done too often. Keep it a bit more original with some of the below chic Halloween costumes.
My costume from last year is in this list, and it was a total hit. I have been so busy I haven’t made plans for Halloween yet. What are you going to be this year? Any fun plans?

Maleficent
Not only is this all-black costume incredibly chic, it’s also easy to put together. Just throw on a black dress, black OTN boots, and a cape. Build your horns from this easy tutorial here. Make sure to do lots of contouring to give yourself Maleficent’s razor-sharp cheekbones.
A Vampire Flapper
I was so inspired by this photo on Pinterest. Of all the chic Halloween costumes, what could be more perfect than an undead flapper? Find yourself a vintage flapper dress, add some pin curls and fangs. Pale makeup and black lipstick finish off this look.
Wednesday Addams
What’s more appropriate for Halloween than dressing as everyone’s favorite Addams Family character? A black dress, white button down, and braids is all you need to make this chic costume. Make sure to spend the night giving everyone her famous evil side-eye.
Ring Master
This is probably the sexiest costume on this list, but I love Miranda Kerr’s version of a ringmaster. Grab a sparkly leotard, black blazer (bonus points if you can find tails), fishnets, and a top hat. Add a whip as a prop and you’re ready to tame all the lions.
Skeleton
Lots of people attempt the skeleton look. If you really want to go full chic, pair your undead makeup with a tuxedo jacket or a white button down. Don’t go halfway on the makeup, instead do a full face and extend the bones down your neck. What’s the point of Halloween if you’re not going to fully commit to your costume?
